Feather Muster Postponed
Our sincere thanks and appreciation is
extended to those community individuals,
businesses, the agencies who offered
their support for this project.
However, citing a lack of registrations
and despite support from the community
and businesses, the organizers, regret
to advise that the 2010 Feather Muster
has been postponed. Noting that much
enthusiasm for this build project was
expressed by the participating parks,
conservation are and agencies, the
Feather Muster website will remain open
to collect input from interested birders
for their ideas an opinions so that the
count may ne re-reassessed for launch in
May 2011.
The fee per entrant is $25.00.
Teams, which can consist of members from
2 to 6, are supplied with a map showing
the boundaries of the count area, a tick
box species list, an identifying lanyard
and refreshments at the finish line.
An announcer will welcome the
contestants and start the count at 12:00
noon sharp. The teams race off to spot
and record every species of bird within
their vision.
The teams scramble at their own pace
using whatever means of conveyance they
are comfortable with, be it, cars,
bicycles, hiking boots, we only ask that
the count is conducted as safely as
possible.
Teams can spot and count as long as their
stamina lasts, late into the night and
as early as they feel they can crawl out
of bed in the morning.
